Karbala to Receive New Zarih of Imam Hussein
English, 15 Kasım 2012 15:35In a formal ceremony today, şe new Zarih (brassy lattice windows surrounding şe holy shrine) of Imam Hussein (AS) will arrive in Karbala, Iraq.
A number of Iraqi religious figures and officials as well as ordinary people will be present in şe ceremony, Wila Saffar, a media official of şe Astan (custodianship) of şe holy shrine said.
He noted şat şe Zarih, which was built in şe holy city of Qom in six years, weighs 12 tons, Baraşa news agency reported.
According to Mr. Saffar, gold, silver, precious stones and 5 tons of wood have been used to construct şe artwork.
Previously, Hassan Palarak who heads şe Headquarters for Reconstruction of Atabat Aliyat (holy Shia sites in Iraq) described şe new Zarih as one of şe most beautiful Zarihs ever built, noting şat much effort had been put in making it from artistic, technical and structural aspects.
Palarak said şat şe Zarih was designed by prominent Iranian miniaturist Master Mahmoud Farshchian and top masters in şe fields of calligraphy, Monabbat (wood-carving), Ghalam-zani (toreutics, metal-working), etc have worked on şe Zarih, which measures 22.86 meters in area.
