Meeting of Demirtaş with Ozgunduz

The Chairman, Selahattin Demirtaş and the accompanying delegation visited the leader of Turkish Shias, Selahattin Ozgunduz.

Demirtaş stated: “I appreciate the warm welcoming of my dear master and the officials here. We are visiting various parts of Turkey without being concerned about the vote. On account of this, we are here today. Unfortunately, political affairs have been done through the sect and ethnic discriminations in our country so far. However, we should perform political affairs in a free and equal atmosphere without denying our own roots.”

Demirtaş: “If we bring peace to Turkey completely, this peace will also be a hope for our country. The leader of Turkish Shias (the noble owners of this country), Selahattin Ozgunduz has paid a high price to bring peace to these lands.”

The Leader of Turkish Shias, Selahattin Ozgunduz: “I am grateful to the Chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Selahattin Demirtaş for his visit. If we have a legislation which includes justice in representation and sharing, freedom in expressions and beliefs, and equality in law and opportunities in our country, then no one will make a claim on his rights. As we share a unity in our belief, land and nation, we do not need to chase after something else. Our territorial integrity, national solidarity and continuity of the state must be our red lines and bases and we have to protect these values for each region.

Stating that the Shias are the ones who are mostly deprived of their rights, Ozgunduz mentioned that almost every day Shias’ names are abused.

 The visit came to an end by mutual good intentions and wishes.
